1. Who We Are
Verdanter UK ("Verdanter", "we", "us", "our") is the data controller responsible for your personal data when you use our website and services (the "Service"). Verdanter UK trades under the name "Verdanter". This Privacy Notice explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. Personal Data We Collect
- Account data: name, email address, password (hashed), display name
- Support data: messages you send us via the contact form
- Usage data: search queries, shortlists, saved places, reviews, uploaded media
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, log data
- Location data (only when you opt in for nearby search)
- Order data: products purchased and subscription status. Payment card details are collected and processed directly by Paddle (see section 5); we never see or store your full card number.
3. How We Use Your Personal Data and Legal Basis
- Provide the Service (account, search, shortlists, subscriptions) — performance of a contract with you.
- Customer support — performance of a contract and our legitimate interest in helping users.
- Security, fraud and abuse prevention — our legitimate interest in protecting the Service and our users.
- Product improvement and analytics — our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the Service.
- Legal and tax compliance (including retaining order records) — compliance with a legal obligation.
- Marketing communications (if applicable) — your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
4. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember preferences, and limited analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings.
5. Who We Share Your Data With
- Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle") — our Merchant of Record and reseller for all paid plans. Paddle is the data controller of the personal and payment data you submit during checkout, and handles billing, taxes, invoicing, refunds and subscription management. See Paddle's privacy notice.
- Hosting, database and storage providers operating the Service infrastructure.
- Email delivery and customer-support tooling providers.
- Analytics providers helping us measure and improve the Service.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where reasonably necessary.
- Authorities, regulators or law enforcement where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data.
6. International Transfers
Some of our service providers are based outside the UK and EEA. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK/EU adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where applicable).
7. Data Retention
- Account data: while your account is active, and up to 12 months after closure.
- Order, billing and tax records: 7 years (UK statutory requirement).
- Support correspondence: up to 3 years after the matter is resolved.
- Server, security and analytics logs: typically up to 12 months.
After these periods data is deleted or anonymised, unless we are required to keep it for longer by law.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and role-based permissions — to protect your personal data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
9. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We aim to respond to rights requests within one month.

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a revised "Last updated" date and, where the change is material, notify you by other appropriate means.
